Scarefest starts today at the Lexington Center. We went down and did a quick walk through of the exhibit hall before it opened up and took the camera with us. Check out the video below (click here to watch in high definition) to see a quick rundown of the setup from this year. For more information on Scarefest, visit their website by CLICKING HERE.
Congratulations to Caroline Nuss, who is our winner for the Jonas Brothers banner giveaway. Thanks so much to everyone who entered! I really enjoyed checking out the concert from so many view points by looking at all the fan photos. In addition, MANY of you tagged yourself in our photos we took at the show. Many of the shots (like the one above) have nearly 25 people tagged in them, who traveled from all over the region to come to the concert. It’s pretty cool to look through and see all the people tagged throughout the crowd. Since I am feeling pretty guilty that there could be only one winner, I have decided to make the PDF file [of the banner] available for anyone to download.
You can print it out on your printer at home, or if you want to print your very own banner, you could take that file to a printing shop and have one made. Enjoy, and congrats again to Caroline Nuss!
Did you go to the Jonas Brothers show this past Sunday? If so then you could win the Jonas Brothers banner that hung on High Street leading up to the show. The process is simple, but requires a Facebook account. Do one or both of the following to enter:
• Check out our photo album on Facebook from the Jonas Brothers pre-show and concert by CLICKING HERE. If you see yourself in any photo, then tag yourself. You can even tag your friends to enter them into the giveaway as well. Parents, if your kids don’t have accounts, then feel free to tag pictures of them with your account.
• Aren’t in any of the photos? Don’t fret! Upload your own photos from the show to our fan photos section. CLICK HERE and click on “Add Photos” at the top left to add photos you already have on Facebook, or upload them. Pretty simple huh?
Although it won’t give you an advantage in the giveaway, we would love for you to upload all your photos from that day, and be sure to tag yourself in all of them. At noon on Friday, September 4th, we will compile a list of people who are either tagged in a photo, or who added a photo, and randomly select a lucky winner who will win the 2 foot by 6 foot Jonas Brothers banner. Keep an eye out for a message from Paul [that's me!] since there is no way to send a message from Rupp Arena. So what are you waiting for? Add your photos and tag yourself!
If you couldn’t tell from the roar of the crowd outside, the Jonas Brothers were at Rupp Arena this past Sunday night. The stage was amazing, the lighting and effects were jaw-dropping, and the house reached a new decibel level with their cheering. Given their young ages, you would think the Jonas Brothers might be a bit overwhelmed by everything. In fact, they seem more comfortable headlining their own in-the-round world tour than most artists who are twice their age playing much smaller venues. Regardless of whether you like their music or not, it is hard to deny that they know how to work the stage, engage the crowd, and exceed all their fans’ expectations. Read the rest of this entry »
As many of you may know we unofficially kick off our arena season this Sunday with the Jonas Brother concert here at Rupp Arena at 7:00pm. It is already looking to be a wild night with over 17,500 people already slated to be there. Are you attending the show? There are a variety of tips and info you can find out after the jump that you will want to read through before heading here on Sunday.
On a different note, the Jonas Brothers are hosting a webcast on their Facebook page this Saturday from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. If you are going to the show, then we will see you there. If not, then know that this show is only the beginning. The schedule is beginning to look packed, especially in October. Read the rest of this entry »
Cue the spooky music… [presses play]… much better. The ScareFest Horror and Paranormal Convention is back at the Lexington Center this September 11th through 13th! Many may remember last year (it’s first year), which was very successful and hosted a lot of celebrities and exhibitors involved with horror and the paranormal. Although last year set the bar high, this year will push it even higher! Hit the jump to see a list of some of the celebrities coming to the event. Read the rest of this entry »
The 2009 Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago took place a week ago from this last weekend. Some big names hit the stage, such as Kings of Leon, who headlined one of the days. Fuze TV did a special with the fesitival and interviewed many of the big bands. Below is their quick interview they did with Kings of Leon. Check it out! Kings of Leon and White Lies (their opener, who was also at Lollapalooza) will be here at Rupp Arena on October 10th at 8:00pm.
Every now and then we like to poll our readers/fans/followers to see who they would like to see come to Rupp Arena. It gives us a good idea of what the demand is for certain artists/acts and tells us to keep an ear to the ground for when they are routing their tour. So, we want to know who you want to see! As a little extra incentive, next Monday (August 10th) we will choose a random commenter here, on Facebook, and on Twitter and each will win a Rupp Arena Blog tshirt. So take a second and hammer out some of your favorite bands/shows that are currently touring, planning a tour, or may tour at some point in the future. You never know, they may end up hitting the stage here at Rupp!
As we mentioned earlier, the Sugarland Concert at Rupp Arena (from October 25th 2008) is going to be shown on primetime TV tonight on ABC at 8:00pm EST. In addition to that, the DVD/CD combo comes out tomorrow at Walmart of the whole concert. If you went to the show, be sure to check it out and see if you can spot yourself. If you were able to attend, then here is your chance to catch an awesome concert filmed here at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY!
