Wonder Girls Open For Jonas Brothers

July9

This past week, another opener was announced for the Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009, which is coming to Rupp Arena on August 23rd. The Wonder Girls, an all girl dance-pop group from South Korea, will be joining Jordin Sparks and Honor Society on tour with the Jonas Brothers. With four acts, it should be a long night, but with a lot of variety. As with all the other shows, as we get closer I will start to profile each opener.

Pre-Boom: Hank Williams Jr.

July3

Tomorrow is Red, White & Boom! in the Cox Street Parking Lot behind Rupp Arena. The gates open at 3:00pm and between the six artists there, you will be able to listen to music for nearly 9 hours straight. As the last of our features this week, I wanted to introduce you to Hank Williams Jr. Oh, you have heard of him already? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised seeing as how he has had 96 hit singles, and won over 24 awards. To change things up from the other features, instead of having part of an interview, I embedded a clip from his recent appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Hit the jump below to check out the video.

Pre-Boom: Keith Anderson

July2

Red, White & Boom! is only two days away! In today’s Pre-Boom feature, we take a look at Keith Anderson, a Oklahoma native who has had his fair share of albums and hit songs. Most should know his songs, or at least recognize his name. Keith will be one of the artists performing this Saturday, and will take the stage right before Hank Williams Jr. Hit the jump below to check out part of an interview that The Boot had with him about his vocal surgery he underwent a few months ago. Rest assured, he is back on the road and better than ever!

Pre-Boom: Justin Moore

July1

For today’s Pre-Boom, we highlight Justin Moore, who comes from Poyen, Arkansas. Most people will recognize Justin from his hit song last year, “Back That Thing Up,” or from his current hit “Small Town USA,” which is from his upcoming self-titled album that releases this August. Hit the jump below to check out part of an interview that Today’s Country Magazine had with Justin.

Pre-Boom: Holly Williams

June30

Our next artist to spotlight this week is Holly Williams, who just released a new album on June 16. She is daughter of Hank Williams Jr. (who is headlining Red, White & Boom!), and granddaughter of Hank Williams Sr., both of which are country music legends that have helped shape the genre into what it is today. While those are big footsteps to follow in, Holly has done a great job of making a name for herself and bringing her own unique style to her songs. While they are still considered country songs, they don’t sound much like those of her father and grandfather. Hit the jump below to see a preview of an interview that Holly had with Blender recently.

Pre-Boom: Halfway to Hazard

June29

In the first of five features this week, that I have dubbed “Pre-Boom,” we take a look at Halfway to Hazard, a group that will be performing at Red, White & Boom! this Saturday, July 4th. Halfway to Hazard, a group from here in Kentucky, got their name because the two members always met at the halfway point between their hometowns (Hazard, KY) to practice. Hit the jump below for part of an interview with the duo. Also, stayed tuned for more Pre-Boom blog entries. One will be up each day leading up to the show.

The tickets are $98.00 each, but include parking, food, beverages, a laminate, a tshirt, and much more. Sugarland Rupp Show on TV and DVD!

June23

Above is a clip from the Sugarland “Live on the Inside” DVD, which releases on August 4th at Walmarts everywhere. The DVD itself is all filmed from a single show, this past October 25th show at Rupp Arena! If you went to the show, or know friends that were there, then there is a good chance you will be able to pick yourself out in the crowd. Ready for the icing on the cake? The night before the DVD releases, a portion of the show will be aired on ABC primetime, during an hour-long special. So not only can you catch you and your friends (and your local arena!) on the DVD, but can see it at 8:00EST on August 3rd on ABC! If you happen to miss attending the show, then I would definitely recommend checking it out on TV at least. It was a great concert with a lot of audience participation. Hit the jump below to view links to the news on Sugarland’s website and Entertainment Weekly.

Jonas Bros. Tour Kicks Off With a Bang!

June22

The Jonas Brothers kicked off their world tour this past Saturday, June 20th down at the new Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, TX. There were around 50,000 fans there to greet the trio and their openers (Honor Society and Jordin Sparks). As a special surprise to the fans, Miley Cyrus made a surprise appearance and sang “Before the Storm,” a song she collaborates with the Jonas Brothers on, which is featured on their new CD. If you want to see the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus performing, it’s nothing a quick YouTube search can’t find. The Jonas Brothers will be hitting the stage at Rupp Arena on August 23rd, and Miley Cyrus will be doing the same on November 1st.
