I am a fan of classic rock and roll. I would love to see any of the following bands:

    Deep Purple
    Jethro Tull
    Blue Oyster Cult
    Santana

I also would like to see a newer artist:

    John Mayer

Also, a play I would love to see that sometimes plays in Louisville and Cincinnati. I did see this play years ago at the Lexington Opera House, complete with full orchestra. They now use a bunch of keyboards and synthesizers, but still sound great.

I would love to see artists like Lyle Lovett, Jackson Browne, CSN(Y), Peter Frampton, Chris Isaak, Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shephard, etc. at the Opera House. It's a fantastic venue and it could really help promote Lexington's reputation as a music town. I used to live in the SF Bay Area and went to a lot of shows at the Mountain Winery which is about the same size so I know these artists are willing to play smaller venues. While the Mountain Winery has a beautiful outdoor setting, there's a lot to be said for the Lex Opera House as well. Just for comparison, here's the lineup this summer at the Mountain Winery. Keep the music coming. Rob

June 1 - Goo Goo Dolls
    June 7 - Crosby, Stills & Nash
    June 18 - Imogen Heap
    June 26 - Brandi Carlile
June 30 - The Black Crowes
July 1 - The Avett Brothers
    July 11 - Yes / Peter Frampton
    July 15 - Ziggy Marley
July 22 - Lyle Lovett and His Large Band
July 30 - Squeeze / The English Beat
August 5 - Shawn Colvin / Mary Chapin Carpenter
August 6 - Los Lonely Boys
    August 9 - Natalie Merchant
    August 18 - Lucinda Williams
August 19 - The Swell Season
    August 21 - B.B. King / Buddy Guy
August 22 - John Hiatt & The Combo / Los Lobos
    August 23 - Rufus Wainwright
    August 24 - Crowded House
    August 27-28 - Chris Isaak
September 11 - The Doobie Brothers
    September 14-15 - Sheryl Crow
    September 22 - Willie Nelson & Family

i'd love to see george thorogood at the opera house. he'd be great. but if i could see anyone perform that i wanted i'd choose the eagles. the harmonies they sing would sound AWSOME!! at the opera house. the acoustics are fantastic. in all honesty seeing a show at the opera house is way better than an arena. the sound quality and intimacy of the venue makes the experience way more enjoyable. freedom hall and ruppe arena are great but the opera house is on another level. everyone should see a show there at least once.
  • Jonathan Newsome

Would love to see him at such an awesome venue as the Opera House! My youngest son loves him as much as I do. Aaron started playing guitar to play like him. He's now in the Army and I miss him terribly! As for other artists I would like to see at the opera house, how about an amazing blues/rock group called DAVY KNOWLES & BACK DOOR SLAM!
