Lexington Loves Lipizzaner

April20

I have to say that I was impressed. Going into the show I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect, but I left the show feeling entertained for sure. I do ride horses, and dressage is one of my disciplines, but a professional I am not. The show accurately portrayed the stallion’s athleticism, balance and natural talent for the world of dressage. Although the riders make it look effortless, make no mistake the moves and transitions are far from simple. Dressage is one of the most technical and difficult styles of riding to master, and the Lipizzaner stallions and their riders seemed to display each movement with such grace and ease.

The history of the breed, dressage and individual horses were equally interesting and necessary to fully appreciate what the horses really can do. Everyone loves a comeback story and to include the horses they rescued in the show pulls at your heart strings and to see those same animals prove their worth and show off their talents was breathtaking. Their efforts to support and promote the breed did not go unnoticed and I appreciated their interest in celebrating the breed.

The show was elegant, graceful and entertaining! A ballet on horseback! Props to the horses and riders! Well done!
