We all have them. But how often do we choose to embrace them? Last night I did just that. I was privileged to be at the United Tour where Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman, two of Christian music’s most beloved artists, performed on stage together. I knew it was going to be an evening of worship, an evening of praise, and a call to action.

This last Friday night Lexington welcomes Rodney Carrington to Rupp Arena. Rodney is known for his southern comedy and as a singer. The show kicked off with music videos that he starred in playing on a big screen, as well as a trailer of a movie starring him and Toby Keith. As soon as he took the stage the fans roared with applause. He jumped right into his routine with one punch line after the other.

Lions, Tigers, and Jugglers! Oh My! Cirque Dreams was truly a Jungle Fantasy! The title of the show does not give justice to the unique performances that took place! It was so jammed packed with entertainment, it was impossible to get bored!

I have to say that I was impressed. Going into the show I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect, but I left the show feeling entertained for sure. I do ride horses, and dressage is one of my disciplines, but a professional I am not. The show accurately portrayed the stallion’s athleticism, balance and natural talent for the world of dressage. This past Tuesday, The World Famous Harlem Globetrotters sent some ‘Advance Ambassadors’ to make the rounds at news and radio stations and talk to kids. They do this for each of their events, and each time they come to Lexington I get to escort them around to the various locations. So sit back, read along and see what it was like to hang out with Herbert “Moo Moo” Evans and Shagari “Skyscraper” Alleyne (who you should recognize as a former UK player).

The “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” was one of those productions that I will never forget. I arrived to the show without knowing anything about it. So when I heard the characters talking about everything from dreams coming true to embarrassing puberty moments- I knew that I was in for a treat! The 90-minute production had a simple stage setup, but the character’s big personalities were what really made the show!
