Rock To the Fourth Power

March27

Tonight we welcome Buckcherry, Avenged Sevenfold, Papa Roach and Burn Halo to Rupp Arena. As per my norm, I will give you some insight into each of the bands so you can know what to expect, and make sure you get there in time to check them all out! Hit the jump below to read my thoughts on all the bands (in order of appearance) at tonight’s show as well as some important information if you plan to attend. If you are reading this after tonight’s show, stay tuned for a recap of the concert, which will be up Saturday afternoon.

We first mentioned Burn Halo three weeks ago when we announced that they would be the opener. Their CD has yet to be release (Amazon has it slated to be released in four days), but their songs have already built a lot of buzz and gotten the attention of people. Burn Halo should be a solid opener that you definitely shouldn’t miss, especially if you are an Avenged Sevenfold fan, which I have heard the sound similar to.

Papa Roach should be a name that nearly everyone knows. They have been around for nearly 10 years and have had plenty of hits. Not to say that the other bands’ singers are boring, but Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach brings an amazing amount of energy to the stage every time they preform. He will bring life to a dead crowd and get everyone into the music. Expect a sampling of songs from their new CD, some from the past two albums, and then some ‘old school’ songs from Infest.

There is a reason why Avenged Sevenfold is co-headlining this tour. There is an unmistakable uniqueness to their guitar rifts and energetic songs. M. Shadows (singer) has a great vocal range and will belt out a scream one second, only to sooth you with a ballad the next. Guitarists Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance are extremely skilled and will harmonize on solos, adding a unique sound to their songs. Johnny Christ is far from average on the bass, thumping out some amazing lines that serve as a backbone for their songs. Lastly, their drummer, The Rev, is one of the fastest and most talented drummers I have ever seen live. Even if you came to see another band on this line up, Avenged Sevenfold is sure to impress. If you came to see A7X then you won’t be disappointed.

Buckcherry will be the final performance of the night. Like many of these other bands, they have had lots of hits that became radio favorites. Josh Todd has such unique vocals and stage presence and definitely puts his passion into his music. The rest of the band is equally expressive in their playing and bring a lot of energy to the stage and the crowd. You will definitely hear plenty of songs off of their newest CD, Black Butterfly, as well as some classics from their previous albums.

The sections and seats numbers go in the same order. So Sec 29 seat A would be right next to Sec 28, and Sec 29 seat 14 would be right next to Sec 30.

does seat #1 start closest to the lower numbered section? Say, section 29 Row A Seat 1 would be on the left or right? Is it nearer sect. 28--which I think it would be--or is it nearer the section 30 aisle? May be dumb question, but never been to Rupp before.
