Going… Going… Gone Mobile

We have taken a variety of steps to make the blog more easily accessible from mobile phones, and you are now able to sign up in the sidebar to receive text message alerts from us, keeping you in the know about tickets going on sale, new events coming to Rupp Arena, and propotions. Better yet, there will be exclusive promotions for those who’ve signed up. Read below for full details of all the new features you can find on the blog.

First off, we set up the blog with a neat little theme that is only enabled if you visit the site on certain phone browsers (currently iPhone or iTouch). The theme will automatically recognize that you are using that type of browser and switch to a new theme that will load much faster and be a lot easier to read, which are often problems with phone browsers. If you don’t like the new look then you can easily click on a link at the bottom of each theme which will switch you back and forth between the themes. Again, all of this will only be visible from certain phone browsers and no one else should notice any changes.

There is another mobile related feature we added to the sidebar. You can now enter in your cell number (and be sure to select the appropriate carrier) and receive updates from us. We are going to start sending out texts when tickets go on-sale, concerts are announced, and other exciting promotional opportunities. Certain promotions will only be available to those who subscribe. How it will work is that we will send a text about certain promotions that only those subscribed will be able to view. It may be free concession items or it could be a free shirt. Depending on your carrier, standard text messaging rates may apply, but don’t worry, we will only text you with select information as to not overload your inbox (and your monthly bill).
