Horsemen Knockout Ticket Giveaway

July 8, 2008 by Paul Hooper

*THIS CONTEST HAS ENDED*

That’s right, we are back again with another blog giveaway. This time around the Horsemen Football is helping us to hook you all up with an awesome experience for you and your friends. There are two more home games left for the Horsemen. Two lucky winners (one for each game) chosen at random will win themselves 4 tickets to the game. Not only will you get to go to the game, but the winner and one of his/her guests will be brought on field during one of the breaks in the game to box each other with over-sized boxing gloves. The winner of the boxing match will win 14 free passes to LA Boxing at Brannon Crossing.

The rules are simple as always:

- Leave a comment on this post

- In your comment, tell us something different you’d like to see at a Horsemen Football game

- Be sure to leave the comment with an email address you check frequently, since that will be how we will contact you if you are one of the winners.

The giveaway will end at 5:00pm EST on Thursday, July 10. After it is over, we will take all the entries and have our super-awesome-state of the art-crazy-monkey operated-random-post comment-picker-machine determine a winner. We have trained our monkey well, and if he detects that someone has entered more than once then not only will they be disqualified, but they will get bad luck for 5 years and a visit from the IRS. Talk about cruel and unusual punishment, so be sure to enter ONLY ONCE.

The final two Horsemen Football games are on July 12 at 7:30pm and July 19 at 7:30pm. We hope that even if you aren’t one of the lucky winners, you will still come out and join us and help cheer them on when they are boxing. Good luck to all who enter!

The entertainment is great at the games! It would be nice to see games/giveaways that involve parent/kid teams competing against other parent/kid teams. This would get the family involved and encourage family interaction!
And karoke is always a good source of entertainment!

  14. TONYA on July 9th, 2008 11:38 am

I would like to see dance studios and cheerleading studios throughout Kentucky perform during halftime shows. for example: clogging, hip hop dance, elite cheerleading, etc.

  15. Traci Walters on July 9th, 2008 11:40 am

My first Horsemen game was March 29, 2008, and I was hooked. I love to watch the game, and I love to watch the fans. Some of them really crack me up. As for something different - well, how about having the refs box each other with those big gloves????

  16. LEAH on July 9th, 2008 11:43 am

ME! I want to see me at the game!

  17. mary maxwell on July 9th, 2008 11:45 am

I would like them to have an actual half time show at some of the games, for instance invite one of the local college bands to perform: UK, KSU or even one of the local high school bands, or maybe one of the dance teams. it would make it very interesting and more people would attend the Horsemen because there children are performing at the RUPP. This is called how to bring more of a crowd in from the local communities.

  18. janet on July 9th, 2008 11:45 am

I love football!! How about having little league football teams showcase their special drills and or skills at halftime? Punt, pass, kick contest or just showing their special warmup drills.

  34. Nacho Cheese on July 9th, 2008 12:21 pm

I would like to see videos during the breaks (half-time, time outs, before the game, etc.) that spotlights each player. That way we (the fans) can get a better connection to the team.

  35. Dave on July 9th, 2008 12:21 pm

  38. tommy on July 9th, 2008 12:27 pm

Wow 4 free tickets to the game and a boxing match with a family memebr of my choosing wow that would be interesting. First off for those who have never been too a Horsemen game you are missing the most fun and excitement there is and for the family it is great fun and excitement. It is the only place that you can go and see a good game with lots of hard hitting action . The game is a little different than regular football. but once you are hooked you want to go back for more. I have and been going ever since. Anyways afte rthe game you can go meet your favorite players and cheerleaders and they are the best 2 groups of people you will ever meet and interact , talk and get autographs. They love too entertain and give you a great game.So I can say is if you have never made it too a game you need too do it at least once this would be the game too make it too because the guys are hungry and the Horsemen are chomping at the bit too get the Lead in the Division. GOOOOOO HORSEMEN

  39. Cathy on July 9th, 2008 12:29 pm

I am sure my son would love to get a chance to knock out his older brother or dad in front of thousands of fans and not have me (Mom) yelling at him for doing it! Horseman and Henry Clay football rocks!
Suggestion: Kiddie Kapers Dance Company, a LFUCG Parks and Recreation organization, has dozens of dance classes throughout the year of all ages and styles that would probably love to perform in Rupp. Contact Mindy Stone at 288-2900.

  40. Teresa D on July 9th, 2008 12:33 pm

More for kids 6 and 7. they love the Legends. The mascot is friendly faced and kid interactive and they love all the kid freebies in their size. After all, we go where the kids like to go!
What about with paid adult ticket and kid ticket-the kids get a Horseman toy.
They would keep the toy and the parents and the kids would be reminded about the fun they had.
We really would like to go to the next Horsemen game .

  41. Brad on July 9th, 2008 12:37 pm

More free stuff! Chances to win more horseman tickets.

  42. Shelley on July 9th, 2008 12:41 pm

I love the dogs coming out at 1/2time catching frisbies and doing tricks. that should be a staple. Contest like the field goal kick are great to.

  44. Ryan on July 9th, 2008 12:45 pm

i would love to see a store besides the office and the actual games to purchase merchandise. But since this is for the game i would like to see more crowd interaction. maybe even from the players themselves. if you dont already have a section like a UK student section i would suggest you make one were devoted fans can dress up and just be loud

  45. Gloria Browning on July 9th, 2008 12:53 pm

My husband LOVES the Horsemen! It would be great to win tickets around his upcoming birthday!

  46. Sheli on July 9th, 2008 12:54 pm

I would like to see the mascot run in a small circle face down on the end of a bat, throw a football to a receiver and run into the end zone..without falling down from the dizzy circles!

  47. Winston on July 9th, 2008 1:03 pm

The Horseman are awesome, and the only professional football in the area that is affordable. I would like to see more fan giveaways.

  48. Melissa on July 9th, 2008 1:04 pm

Never been to a Horseman game, would love to come and check it out!!!

  49. Tara M on July 9th, 2008 1:06 pm

I think we should have a huge Horsemen statue on wheels, resembilng the ancient Trojan horse, that could wheel around the field during breaks shooting out goodies. You could even hide the dancers or others inside and have them rush the field to perform.

  50. Jeannie Osborne on July 9th, 2008 1:12 pm

We love football and have never been to a Horsemen game but would love to bring my family. I have son that plays for North Laurel High School with hopes of playing for a College and will be a Senior this year. I can’t think of anything that could you could change except for me and my family to be there.

  51. Mark H. West on July 9th, 2008 1:18 pm

I think we could use more ex-UK players on the team.

  52. David F on July 9th, 2008 1:19 pm

There should be a contest to see who can throw the most footballs into a trashcan during one of the timeouts!!!

    Go Horsemen!!!

  53. john mcdaniel on July 9th, 2008 1:39 pm

Bring back the small blimp that flew around at the thoroughblades and dropped swag for the audience. My children loved that thing.

See you soon at the house that Rupp built

  54. Debora on July 9th, 2008 1:45 pm

    More promotional nights

  58. Jonathan on July 9th, 2008 2:15 pm

I would like to see the Horsemen have a Faith Night once a season like the Lexington Legends do. They could have a special concert or something during halftime or after the game. It would attract a lot of families and youth groups. It would be a good promotion for getting in groups, and then get them excited about Horsemen Football!

  59. samgreek on July 9th, 2008 2:19 pm

half time show with a passing and kicking contest for the fans to compete in..

  60. Dana on July 9th, 2008 2:42 pm

I think it would be great to see my kids faces as they watch their first game. My oldest wants to be a football player, so this would be a great opportunity for him!
To show people “how to box” one player from each team should demonstrate!

  61. Kathy on July 9th, 2008 2:51 pm

I would love to recognize kids doing charitable type things. LEXINGTON has alot of good kids out there helping the community. I also enjoy reaching out to families in need, helping them with a night out to the game! I love football and thank you guys for the Horsemen!

  62. Earl on July 9th, 2008 2:55 pm

come on Monkey I would love to see a horseman game, I have never been but I have been told how cool the games are. What I enjoy seeing at events are cheerleaders, door prizes, and free stuff when you walk into the game.

  63. Kerry Cummins on July 9th, 2008 2:58 pm

I would like to see more cash and prized given away during the games. Lets face the facts though, I doubt anyone will post a comment saying you should give away less. So yea, I’m honest, I just want free tickets to an awesome game and the chance to beat the tar outta one of my friends. I was selected once to race in the hamster balls, that was a real hoot! Just give me a chance to box and I won’t let you down.

    Holla at a Balla….

  64. Donna on July 9th, 2008 3:12 pm

I think it would improve attendance, public awareness and get many families hooked if local area bands, teams, etc., were allowed to perform or entertain at half-time. Giveaways are always great too!

  76. Tricia on July 9th, 2008 5:56 pm

I had season passes for several years and LOVED every game!! The atmosphere is awesome. It is something that everyone should experience at least once. So…I think you should give those tickets to first time spectators and spread the love!! I recommend you bring back the Jr. Fillie Dancers to allow school aged children to be more involved in the program. My daughter danced as a Jr. Fillie and although it’s been years she still talks about the experience. It was great for her self esteem, etc. GO HORSEMEN!!

need more fans in rupp to suport the horseman and more giveaways

Horsemen rock. Bring back the Kentucky State marching band at half time. That ruled.

Also, a new PA announcer. Don’t want to name names and be ugly, but the current guy is obnoxious. You know who I’m talking about.

  88. Hot Stuff Tonight on July 9th, 2008 9:15 pm

  93. Garry Harville on July 10th, 2008 3:39 am

I’ve only been to a couple of games and enjoyed them very much. Lots of action. I’m not sure if you already do this, but you could have promotions during home games such as, Jerseys, Footballs, etc… and other Team Memoribilia for the first 200 or more Fans to enter the Arena on a game day. Also, pick me so I can see another game.

  94. Dan on July 10th, 2008 4:35 am

I’d like to see Jared Lorenzen as quarterback!! Go Horseman!

  95. Nick on July 10th, 2008 6:41 am

It would be great to see a half time show that would involve the whole crowd. It is normally just contests so the only people interested in watching or those who know the people participating.
Do something like a comedy act that the entire stadium would get enjoyment out of. That would make a Horseman game perfect from beginning to end!

  96. Tammy on July 10th, 2008 8:15 am

At half time. Do a show, and along witht the show reconize a child that is doing fundraisers for health issues like some of these blind children in Kentucky that are working so hard to raise money for the unbilical sten cel treatmentl to cure Blindness. The recongnition along with allow the community to know they could give for a cause of one of our won chilren. There is a child there now from Owenboro and one trying to go from Maysville.

  97. Tony Thompson on July 10th, 2008 8:16 am

I would like to see something like a UFO land in Rupp Arena and a bunch of Aliens get out and take sets in the stands to watch and cheer on the greatest indoor football team in the universe, THE LEXINGTON HORSEMEN. It could be promoted as Special Guest from out of town arive to watch the Horsemen rock the world. Or the biggest game in the universe, put logos on shirts, jerseys mugs shot glasses, etc. and in the end have the aliens abduct the fillies. I think this would be great fun.

  98. Jennifer on July 10th, 2008 8:49 am

I’d just love to see a game!! I’m a huge football fan and have never been to a Horseman/ any arena football game yet!

  101. Kathy on July 10th, 2008 10:13 am

I would love to be able to send my husband and his three buddies from high school to a Horsemen game. They are all HUGE football fans. I would like to see at the games anything that gets the audience up and moving. Like radom people picked out of the audience to go the electric slide or macarana.

  102. ROSS BARRETT on July 10th, 2008 11:05 am

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE OF LENNY AND VICKY. LENNY COULD ACT OUT WHEN HE SEE’S A BAD CALL. HARRAS THE REFS. GET EJECTED FROM THE GAME AND VICKY CAM COME TO HIS SIDE AND HELP. OR THEY COULD INTERACT WITH THE FANS. KNOWING THE HOUSE’S MAKES IT MORE FUN TO ME. JUST TO KNOW THEM MAKES GOING THAT MORE FUN.( OH HAY, THERE IS LENNY.)

  103. Jo Ann on July 10th, 2008 11:23 am

My family has not been able to see a horseman game and it would be nice to be able to experance this togather for the first time all togather as a family.

  104. Bonnie G. on July 10th, 2008 11:39 am

I would like to see the games marketed more widely because I don’t live in Lexington and I very rarely hear anything about Horsemen or their games. We have never been but would love to go. More promotions and kid friendly things.

  105. Andy Johnson on July 10th, 2008 11:43 am

More special promotion nights would be good.

  106. Waynell on July 10th, 2008 1:04 pm

I brought my grandson to a game once and he loved it. He got to come out on the floor and see the players. Why not give one football away each game with all the players having signed it, along with the coaches. Then have a picture made with the winner and his signed football. My grandson would love to have one of those game balls. This football is more fun than watching the field type game. It is more exciting and more action without so many delays like the field games. The Horsemen rock! This is such a fun evening for the whole family.

  107. Joe Claypool on July 10th, 2008 1:17 pm

I would like to see more family-friendly activities because I love taking my stepson to games.

  108. Kendra on July 10th, 2008 1:33 pm

I would like more open participation, More cheers from cheerleaders to get the audience making noise, more /better organized meet-n-greets with the players, Photo ops!
    Freebies are great!
Fans need to be stimulated not just borded staring at a game when it is slow, Take Bull riding there is a rodeo clown to fill in the down time.

  109. Steve on July 10th, 2008 2:00 pm

I’d like to see Kentucky horsemen (licensed race horse owners, trainers, breeders, etc.) receive discounts on Horsemen tickets.

  110. Carrie on July 10th, 2008 2:06 pm

I will never go to another Horseman game. The team themselves is fine but the people running the show are crooks.
